Wanda Bauer

September 12, 1937 — March 20, 2022

Plymouth

Wanda June (Zastrow) Bauer, age 84, of rural Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her home.

Wanda was born on September 12, 1937, to Wilmer and Erma (Hadreth) Zastrow in Juneau, WI. She attended Sheboygan Central High School. After high school, Wanda was united in marriage to Randall Bauer at St. James UCC in Spring Valley, WI. After they were wed, Wanda and Randy moved into Randy’s childhood home where they raised two children, Rick and Todd.

Wanda worked in housekeeping for most of her life, starting out at Lakeland College before going to Heritage Nursing Homes and finally to Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan and retired at the age of 72.

Holidays were very special to Wanda, and she loved to host her family with a big meal and lots of her homemade desserts. Wanda was a national award winner for German Shepherd Breeding and Showing for many years. She was an animal lover, and proudly helped out ‘Two Left Paws’. Wanda’s love of animals started early on in her life, with her first horse, ‘Mike.’

She greatly enjoyed going on bus trips with her best friend, Carol. Wanda was known for the African Violets that she grew in her garden, and was always on the hunt for the best and the brightest new violet to add to her garden. She was an avid Packers fan.

Wanda was a very devoted member of the Word of Grace Congregation in Sheboygan Falls and was actively involved in bible studies with other women in the church. Her faith in Christ was of the utmost importance to her.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Randy; sons, Ricky (Donna) Bauer and Todd (Michelle) Bauer; grandchildren, Amanda Bauer, Stephanie Bauer, Kelsey (Travis) Dassow, Lauren (Alex) Kayser, Jacob (Josette) Bauer, and Abigail (Cody) Klemme; great-grandchildren, Peyton Kelling, Samura and Ryder Rutherford, Easton and Harlie Dassow, Simon and Miles Kayser, and Hudson Klemme; sister, Welda Fredrick; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Robert Bauer; mother-in-law, Adeline (Adrian) Van Dixhorn; brother, Wilmer Jr. (Jackie) Zastrow; brother-in-law, Orlin Fredrick; and other relatives and friends.
