Rose Mary Pyawasay, born on August 14, 1948, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Joseph Horn and Eva Kudirko, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Bowling Green Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Rose's unwavering faith in God and her steadfast devotion to the Catholic Church were pillars of her life. She embodied the essence of motherhood, showing her children unconditional love and acceptance, no matter the paths they chose. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family, touching everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cooking was one of Rose's greatest joys, and every meal she prepared came with a story, creating cherished memories for those gathered around her table. Anyone who entered her home was welcomed with a warm meal, hospitality, and lots of laughter. She made sure no guest left hungry—and always with a dish to return! Her pride in her Lithuanian and German heritage shone through in her cooking, which was both a celebration of her roots and a reflection of her generous heart. Her connection with the Menominee Nation through her children was a source of great pride and respect for over 60 years.
Rose had a passion for giving, spending her time giving back to her communities in Wisconsin, Texas, and Kentucky. One of her fondest memories was the time she spent working as an Education Assistant for the Sheboygan School District, where the children brought her immense joy. She had a curious and adventurous spirit and loved to travel, try new things, and meet new people.
Family was the cornerstone of Rose's life. She is survived by one brother Alan Ruppel and by her five children: D. James Pyawasay (Amanda Plansky), Darryl (Chrystal) Pyawasay, Michelle (Lonnie) Powell, Tina (Michael) Williams, and David (Dan) Baillargeon. Her legacy continues through her seven grandsons: Coty Pyawasay, Cory Pyawasay, Sawyer Pyawasay, Justin Williams, Takoda Powell, Nokona Powell, and Vincent Pyawasay; seven granddaughters: Savannah Rose Bumpas, Jenna Rose Williams, Jami Gilbert, Tehya Rose Pyawasay, Presley Rose Pyawasay, Alamea Pyawasay, and Vivian Rose Pyawasay; nine great-grandsons: Owen, Connor, Oliver, Finnian, Huxley, Karson, Oakley, Orion, and Everett; two great-granddaughters: Scarlett Rose and Lillian; her close cousin: Shirley Wall; her sister-in-law: Cheryl Pyawasay; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sister Ramona, and her three spouses, Darwin Rabideaux, Glenn Pyawasay, and Joseph Cooper. Her enduring love for her family, her faith, and her playful spirit will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her.
