Roger Yurk

Roger H. Yurk, 86, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Pine Haven Nursing Home. Roger was born May 26, 1931, in Sheboygan, to the late Henry and Theresa (Kraemer) Yurk. Roger served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Roger met Betty Schroeder in 1948, while playing drums for a dance band. They were united in marriage on May 1, 1954, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2006. Roger continued his love of playing drums, most recently with the Sheboygan Accordion Club.
After serving in the military, Roger became a mason journeyman and started his own business, Yurk and Sons. He finished his career as a mason with the Kohler Company, retiring in 1995. He continued to work with the Kohler Company in the Design Center as a tour guide until 2015. Roger also enjoyed spending time on his hobby farm.
His other interests included traveling, making wine, riding his Harley, Wisconsin sports, fishing, gardening, collecting coins and his numerous pets. He was an usher at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He also volunteered at The Gathering Place, the Stephanie H. Weill Center and UW Sheboygan.
Survivors include his children, Rick Yurk, Ken (Tina) Yurk, Kay Yurk; his grandchildren, April (Jason), Ashley (Larry II), Aaron (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Kristen, Randi Gena, Ethan, Skylar, Larry III, Matt; great-great-grandchild, Journey; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Evelyn.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his great-great-grandchild, Phoenix.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church (730 Cty Rd. PPP, Sheboygan Falls) with Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Friends may call on Monday, at the church, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan.
