Patricia Catherine Lang

January 16, 1924 — August 5, 2024

Sheboygan

Patricia C. (Pat) Lang, 100, passed away on the evening of August 5, 2024 at eleven o’clock as the chimes of her old grandfather clock rang out into the night. She was born in Sheboygan County on January 16, 1924, to the late Patrick and Louise (Bell) Lamb. Pat attended St Dominic School and graduated from Central High School in the class of 1942.

During World War II she did defense work at Vollrath and, among other key items for the war effort, made canteens for soldiers to drink from at the front. Pat played softball for the Department of Recreation. Her team won the City Championship in 1944. She also belonged to the Auxiliary No. 19 Sons of Union Veterans' drill team and marched in many Sheboygan parades.

On June 1, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Lang, who preceded her in death on February 10, 2005. Pat retired from Wisconsin Bell in May 1979 after many years of service, and was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. After retirement she volunteered at St. Nicholas Hospital, St. Dominic Church and the Salvation Army. She was an avid golfer and she and Joe enjoyed many years of friendly competition in a variety of leagues at Town and Country Golf Club.

In later years, Pat belonged to an exercise class at the Senior Activity Center (Now called ‘Uptown Social’). She continued to exercise daily up to her last days by walking the halls of LakeHouse assisted living community where she lived for the last 5 years - all three floors, every hallway, every morning before attending the daily exercise class and many other activities with the rest of her friends.

Pat was a die hard Packer fan, loved Jordy Nelson, wore his jersey every Sunday, and waved a Packer towel after every touchdown. But mostly, Pat will be remembered by all who knew her as an inspiration for her kind and gentle spirit, endless compassion, and wonderful positive outlook.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Jane (Jon Doll) Lang, son-in-law Robert (Jolene) Shellman of Delafield and two step grand-daughters Rebecca (Becca) Doll of Sheboygan Falls WI and Emily Doll of Winston-Salem NC. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jolene Shellman, sisters Beatrice Herber, Marie Fetterer and Marjorie Yurk, brothers Giles Lamb and Orton Lamb, brothers-in-law Vick Herber and Fred Fetterer, Arno Yurk, sister-in-law Atemsa Lamb and her mother and father-in-law Mary and Max Pittner.

The family would like to express gratitude for the exceptional services provided by the compassionate team at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and the many dedicated staff members at LakeHouse Sheboygan.

‘The Live Forever Project’, a local community non-profit that keeps the memories of elderly citizens alive through music, dance, and poetry, is performing a musical production telling the story and celebrating the 100-year life of Pat Lang on August 24th and 25th in the Berkshire Auditorium in Sheboygan Falls at 2:30 in the afternoon. Everyone is invited. It is free and open to the public.

Services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6706 Superior Ave, Kohler, WI 53044, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., with Father Phillip Reifenberg officiating. Visitation will be held in the cemetery chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the cemetery.
