Nan Garton Siebert, age 80, of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin died on March 13, 2024 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her four children. Born in Sheboygan, WI on June 20, 1943 to Robert Garton Sr. and Mary V. Garton. Her siblings include Robert Garton Jr. (Pamela), Anthony Garton (Jane), Joseph Garton (Deirdre), and Leah Garton. Nan was married to Thomas Siebert on August, 14 1965 in Sheboygan, WI until his death on May 5, 2023.
Nan graduated from Sheboygan North High School and received a teaching degree from Knox College in Galesburg, IL in 1965. She taught briefly in Milwaukee, WI while Tom attended Dental School until the birth of their first child.
Nan’s life was defined by family, and her devotion to her family was extraordinary. Nan doted on her 13 grandchildren with the same immeasurable love she gave 4 children. Gathering the family for holidays and summers at Toyland brought her great joy and happiness.
Nan was a lifelong teacher, both as her profession and as a community volunteer. She taught at the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah school district, volunteered at the Elkhart Lake library, Bookworm Gardens, Planned Parenthood, Meals on Wheels, and for many other organizations that were important to her.
Nan enjoyed bridge club with friends, tennis, reading, knitting, and sunbathing. She was an excellent cook; making legendary molasses cookies for her family. She also looked forward to traveling with her husband Tom every winter.
Nan loved chocolate, Caramel Nips, show-tunes, and a hot bath.
She is survived by; siblings Robert Garton Jr. (Pamela), Anthony Garton, and Leah Garton. Children, Jen Siebert, Ben Siebert (Bridget), Flossie Siebert (John Selak), and Tiffany Siebert (Tony Whittington). Grandchildren, Kalob Damrow, Frida McKeown, Mary Tanouye, Bozeman Siebert, Victoria Gant, Buck Siebert, Charlie Tanouye, Alliya Gant, Jack McKeown, Sabrina Tanouye, Sadie Siebert, Alex Gant, and Ari Whittington, and great-granddaughter, Kaylani Williams. And beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents, and youngest brother, Joseph.
Donations in her memory can be made to Bookworm Gardens in Sheboygan, WI, The Elkhart Lake Public Library, and Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
