Michael A. Barclay, of Newton, passed away Tuesday evening February 21, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Community surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old.
Michael was born September 28, 1936 in Green Bay, the son of Dale and Phyllis (nee Whitelaw) Barclay. He graduated from Howards Grove High School in 1955. Michael went on to serve his country from 1956-1963 in the United States Air Force, where he was a jet mechanic. Upon returning from the service, Michael worked as a Millright at Vollrath. He later worked at the Sheboygan County Courthouse as a maintenance engineer, at Kohler General as a service tech, and as a service technician engineer at Pemco where he retired from in 2001. His job took him to every corner of the world where he made many acquaintances into friends. He enriched the lives of everyone he met.
On September 10, 1966, he was united in marriage with Vicki Margenau in Sheboygan.
Michael was a proud member of the NRA, the Sheboygan Rifle and Pistol Club, was a certified Hunter Safety Course instructor and an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He also belonged to the S.H.A.R.K.S., where he built and flew model airplanes. He enjoyed his Friday lunches with the Flyboys, as they worked to solve the world's problems. He was a jack of all trades, and loved to help others. Above all, he loved being with his family, including his kitties.
Michael is survived by his wife Vicki and three daughters: Kelly (Steve) DenBoer of Sheboygan, Shannon (Joe) Madden of Waldo and Heather Barclay (fiancé Kent Raney) of Odessa, MO. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren: Caitlin (John) Kryl, MacKenzie and Lauren Madden, Becky and Josh DenBoer, Jake Shull and Serra Kuman, sister Bonnie Barclay (Chris Ward) of Janesville, brother Terry (Pat) Barclay of Waupaca, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Dennis (Linda) Barclay.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road in Sheboygan. Pastor Zach Dewitt will officiate. Full military honors will follow the service. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 4-6PM.
