Melvin G. Mauk, age 89, of Sheboygan passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Countryside Manor Assisted Living & Memory Care.
He was born in Sheboygan County on August 21, 1933, to the late Henry and Emma (Roethel) Mauk. He graduated from Elkhart Lake High School in 1951. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in California. On September 19, 1964, Melvin married Karen Reinemann at St. John-St.Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Melvin was employed for over 40 years at Knauf Distributing. He was a member of Ebenezer UCC, serving as the past president of the consistory.
Melvin made many fond memories with his family, attending his children and grandchildrens many activities. He enjoyed being a season ticket holder with the Green Bay Packers for over 50 years, including attending the Ice Bowl. His other hobbies included gardening, bird watching, and stamp collecting.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Karen; children, Kristin (Rick) Schunk, Kenneth (Megan) Mauk, Karla (Lawrence) Baier; grandchildren, Craig, Claudia, Ryan, Courtney, Addison, Ella and Lauren; a brother-in-law, Bil Reinemann; a sister-in-law Carol Reinemann; nephews and a niece, other family and friends.
Along with his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by an infant son Darrell; a brother Milton (Margaret) Mauk; sister Nelda (George) Clement; a brother-in-law Lee Reinemann and his father and mother-in-law, William and Arlene Reinemann.
A Memorial Service for Melvin will take place at 11:30 AM on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Ebenezer UCC, 3215 Saemann Ave. in Sheboygan, with Pastor Lorri Steward officiating. Family will greet visitors at church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment with military honors will take place at the Garden of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Melvin’s name.
The family would like to thank the staff at both Countryside Manor and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the excellent care given to Melvin.
