Mary A. Byrum, 92, of Sheboygan, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Sheboygan Health Services. She was born December 9, 1928 in Sheboygan to the late John and Anna (Stark) Schutte. Mary attended Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Grade School and graduated from Central High School. Following graduation Mary went to The Cradle in Evanston, IL to study and receive her nursing degree.
On September 1, 1951 she was united in marriage to Daniel “Paul” Byrum at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Together they raised three children: David (Gail) Byrum of St. Petersburg, FL, Mark (Cindy) Byrum of Sheboygan, and Paula (Mike) Fromm of Sheboygan.
Mary began her career as a private nurse in Chicago, Il. She then went on to work on the children’s ward at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for several years. Mary then worked for Old Wisconsin retiring in 1994.
She had a strong faith and was a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed traveling and gambling. She was a talented knitter and an avid reader. On the weekends you could find Mary cheering on the Packers and Badgers during football season, and Marquette and Wisconsin during basketball season, but her favorite sports to watch were the ones her granddaughters were participating in, she was their #1 fan.
Mary is further survived by her granddaughters; Trisha (Jason) Wood, Alyssa (Ethan) Franklin, and Danielle Byrum, and great-grandchildren; Deanna, Alex, and Jonathan Wood and Palmer Franklin. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father John Popovich, husband Paul, sister Anne (Roger) Lampe, and many in-laws.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Zimmer-Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Rd. Sheboygan, with Fr. Subi Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Mary’s name.
The family would like to thank Mary’s Condo Buddies Jean & Pat, her niece Jane Bender, special care giver Kathy, and the staff at Sheboygan Health Services, for all their friendship, care, compassion, and support they gave to Mary.
