Marilyn Maria Bernhardt, 66, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center, following a 1-year battle with cancer. She was born August 29, 1956, in Sheboygan to the late Christian and Marcella (Koehler) Reimer. Marilyn graduated from North High School with the Class of 1974.
On July 2, 1977, she was united in marriage to Ernst “Ernie” Bernhardt. Together, they celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Marilyn loved the outdoors. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in her flowers and gardens. Spending time up north in Marinette County for over 30 years was a favorite pastime of hers and gave her inspiration for some of her photography. Musky fishing, watching the birds and wildlife were also what she enjoyed doing while there. Marilyn liked to cook and make Christmas candy for her family and friends. Listening to rock ‘n roll music brought her joy; especially in her final days.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Ernst; brother, Michael (Jean) Reimer; sisters-in-law, Louise (Jerome) Jetzer, Sandra (Harry) Butcher, and Sandra Bernhardt; nephews and nieces, Jeremiah Reimer, Mitchell (Dana) Reimer, and Jessica Reimer, Steven Bernhardt, Mark (MJ) Bernhardt, and Lee (Laura) Bernhardt, Gina Jetzer, Lynn Jetzer, and Todd (Jenny) Jetzer, Eric Butcher and Kyle (Tanya) Butcher, Jody (Cheryl) Booth and Tammy Booth; great niece and nephews, Zachary Schramm, Jonah Weinfurter and Jameson Weinfurter, Jaydn Jetzer, Ashton Butcher and Kaleb Butcher, Addi Reimer and Maddox Reimer; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Reimer; in-laws, Ernst and Weida Bernhardt; brother-in-law, Ralph Bernhardt; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Booth.
A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held later this summer.
