Marie DeRuyter

Marie Lorraine DeRuyter, age 95, went home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice. She was born on April 1, 1922 to the late Henry and Viola Grosskreutz. Marie was born and raised on a farm in Cascade. On May 19, 1941, she married the love of her life, Herbert DeRuyter in Plymouth. After marriage, Marie worked in various factories in the area, making bullets for the war and gloves. They farmed in the Town of Herman while raising 7 children. She also babysat children, whom eventually became like family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting, shopping, garage sales, traveling and spending time with her family. She was the owner of Miami Golden Glow tanning salon for 21 years in the Town of Herman.
Marie is survived by her children: Donald A. DeRuyter, Annette M. (Albert) Fischer, Mark A. DeRuyter, Denise "Jody" DeRuyter; son-in-law, Rodney Rautmann; Grandchildren: Kim, Brad, Russell, Perry, Lisa, Kurt, Paul, Jeffrey, Scott, Ryan, Jamie, Jordan, Jason and Alexia; many grandchildren spouses; 31 Great-Grandchildren (and two on the way); 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; 1 sister, Leah Weinhold, and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, her husband, Herbert; 3 children: infant son Herbert DeRuyter Jr., June Rautmann, and Ruth Ann Meyer; 3 brothers: Marvin Grosskreutz, Carl Grosskreutz, and Joseph Grosskreutz, and many brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Zimmer-Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Rd, Sheboygan, on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Sheboygan Senior Center, the staff at St. Nicholas Hospital ICU, Orange Cross Ambulance transport, and the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice. A special thanks to those caring friends and neighbors who were always there to do whatever was needed. Also, daughters Nettie and Jody who took exceptional care of their mother.
