Lyle Reinemann

February 17, 1945 — February 5, 2021

Lyle J. Reinemann was called home on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 75 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

Lyle was born February 17, 1945 in Sheboygan to Alfred and Elvira (Hackmann) Reinemann. He attended Howards Grove schools and graduated in 1963.

On August 10, 1963 he married Carol Gumm. The couple was happily married for 57 years and took on life’s challenges together while raising three children, Kevin (Sharon) Reinemann of Howards Grove, Timothy (April) Reinemann of Manitowoc, and Traci (Andrew) Mittag of Green Bay.

Lyle began working for the Kohler Company following graduation and continued until his retirement in 2008. During his 45-year career, he worked his way from the mail room to the Manager of Sales Administration in the Engine Division. He was very proud to be a Kohler Company employee and enjoyed his 45 years with the company. The family thanks the Kohler Company for the respect showed to him as he battled illness toward the end of his career.

Lyle was passionate about his faith, his family, and his friends. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. He served in many roles including President of the congregation. If you went to visit Lyle on a Sunday afternoon, you better know what the sermon was about that morning because it was going to be discussed. Nothing made Lyle happier than when he was with his family. He loved spending time with his kids, their spouses, and especially his grandchildren. When you went to visit Grandpa Lyle, you knew there would be a lot of jokes, a lot of entertainment and no one was going home without being told to come back soon.  The tradition of spending Christmas Eve at home with his whole family was very important to him and will never be forgotten. His friends were also very special to Lyle. It didn’t matter if it was going out to eat, playing a round of golf, bowling, or taking a long bus trip, he relished his time with good friends. I’m sure all those friends will never forget to wear two pairs of pants when they play golf, just in case they get a hole in one!!!

Lyle lived in Howards Grove his entire life and was active in the community.  He belonged to the Howards Grove Athletic Association for more than 50 years and served as President for many years. He was a huge supporter of youth athletics and graciously volunteered to help at every event. He was an avid bowler and participated in leagues into his 60’s.

In addition to Carol and their children, Lyle is survived by 6 grandchildren; Brittany (Ethan) Mikkelson, Cole (MacKenzie) Reinemann, Andrew and Eric Reinemann, and Sarah and Erin Mittag, 3 great grandchildren; Eden and Sawyer Mikkelson, and Nora Reinemann; sister-in-laws LuAnn Reinemann and Karen (Richard) Binversie, brother-in-law Robert (Beverly) Gumm Jr., and many nieces and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Eugene and Wayne (Elverta); parents-in-law Robert and Lorraine Gumm, and sister-in-law Katherine (Allen) Gabsch.

Public visitation will take place Saturday, February 13th from 1:00 to 3:00 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. The service will begin at 3:15.
