Jill Urness

Jill Urness, of Newton, passed away Friday morning, February 10, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after her battle with cancer. She was 67 years old. Jill was born December 30, 1949 in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of LaVerne and Burnita (nee Schoonover) Lienau. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School. On March 8, 1969, she was united in marriage with Thomas Urness at Peace UCC in Fredericksburg, IA. The couple started their family in Iowa, before moving to Wisconsin in 1986. Jill was an LPN, and worked at the Sheboygan Retirement home for 26 years before retiring in 2012.
While living in Iowa, Jill had been an EMT and a nurse. Jill was always smiling, and loved to have fun. She enjoyed reading, and above all, spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Jill is survived by her husband Tom and their children: Chad (Julie) Urness of Kiel, Chris (Rose) Urness of Phoenix, AZ and Erin (Mike) Glynn of Appleton. She is further survived by her 11 grandchildren: Allie, Zoie, Riley Morganne and Lilly Urness, Jaid, Paige, Kaden and Cole Urness and Riley Shannon, Maia and Sam Glynn; her mother Burnita Lienau, brothers Jack (Deb) Lienau and Tom (Karen) Lienau, sisters-in-law Judy Kottke and Rose (John) Schroyer, brother-in-law Mick (Theresa) Urness, all of IA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father LaVerne, sister-in-law Diane Lienau and brother-in-law Eugene Kottke.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at St. James UCC Spring Valley, 13312 Pioneer Road in Newton. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 4-7PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
