Jerome J. Heibel, 84, of Sheboygan, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, September 3 2017 at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Jerome was born June 19, 1933, in Sheboygan, to the late Frank J. Heibel, Jr. and Laura (Uhrig) Heibel. He attended Holy Name grade school and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1951. Jerome served his country in the United State Army, serving one tour of Germany. On September 3, 1960, he married the former Shirley Jean Thiel at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Jerome was employed at Plastics Engineering for 36 years, retiring in 1995.
Jerry had many passions during his lifetime; boating, canoeing, kayaking, hunting, motorcycling, bicycling, photography, astronomy and customizing his Bicentennial van from 1975 - 1977. One of his passions was to travel the United States and Canada, especially with his motorcycles, having taken a trip to Alaska on a Honda Hawk. Jerry was still riding his Honda Ascot until the time of his death. Over the last 20 years, Jerry was a member of S.H.A.R.K.S - the Sheboygan Area Radio Control Society. He built and customized over 100 model RC airplanes in his lifetime.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his 3 children, Daniel (Patricia) Heibel, Random Lake, John (Carolina) Heibel, Sheboygan and Jenifer (Jack) Madson, Sheboygan; five grandchildren, Robert Malwitz, Rebecca (Adrian) Domingo, Heather Madson, Hannah Martin and Hailey Madson; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Buchholz, Virginia Wein and Agnes Leubner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Rudolph and Joseph; one sister, Marcella Jacobs; four brothers-in-law, William Wein, Clarence Jacobs, Rudy Buchholz, Tom Leubner.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September, 7, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove).
