James Gilbert

James F. Gilbert, of Howards Grove, passed away Wednesday evening, June 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was 61 years old.
James was born December 17, 1956 in Two Rivers, the son of Floyd and Olivia (nee Ignera) Gilbert. He graduated from Two Rivers High School in 1975, and went on to study at ACME Institute of Technology where he earned an Associates Degree in Tool and Die Design. For over 35 years, he worked as a Tool and Die Designer at Plastics Engineering Co.
On May 10, 1986, he was united in marriage with Kim Messner at St. John's UCC in Sheboygan. The couple raised their family in Howards Grove.
James was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, an amateur dog sitter and had enjoyed scuba diving and golfing when he was younger. He loved participating in everything his children were involved with; they were his pride and joy.
James is survived by his wife Kim and their children: Ross (Deanne) Gilbert of Milwaukee and Alivia Gilbert (Paul Wiesler) of Madison. He is further survived by his sister Ann (Steve) Sonntag of Two Rivers, parents-in-law Kenneth and MaeJean Messner of Sheboygan Falls, brother-in-law Randy (Mary) Messner of Sheboygan Falls, sister-in-law Kelly (John) Abrahamsen of Lakeland, FL, nieces, nephews, grandpuppy Phoebe, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Olivia.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at St. John's UCC, 1248 Lincoln Ave in Sheboygan. Rev. Greg Whelton will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the church on Sunday from 12:00 - 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in James' name to be used towards a memorial in the Healing Garden at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sulemanjee, Carrie and the rest of the Transplant Team at St. Luke's Hospital for their compassionate care over the last 15 years, as well as PLENCO for their ongoing support.
