Helen Akright

Helen Mae Akright nee Wrensch, was born March 21, 1928 to the late Walter and Pearl (Schreiber) Wrensch in Two Rivers, WI. When she was 5 years old, the family moved to the town of Mosel in Sheboygan County where her parents operated a cheese factory. She was the oldest of eight children. She attended Champion Graded School and then graduated from Howards Grove High School on May 31, 1945. She then attended the Milwaukee State Teacher's College. On March 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Henry Akright of Sheboygan Falls. The couple lived in Sheboygan Falls 40 years, moving to Howards Grove in 1989. Henry preceded in death on March 19, 2008, 8 days before their 60th wedding anniversary.

Helen was a life-long member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church in Sheboygan. She had been employed at the Ponderosa Steak House for many years, retiring in April of 1998. After her retirement she volunteered at Northview School in Howards Grove, assisting in the library. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cribbage with Hank every night, road trips with a stop at the Log Cabin in Howards Grove and traveling to their winter home in Ocala Florida, where they had many friends. During her stay at Terrace Place, Helen was involved in many activities, including delivering daily menus to all of her neighboring friends at Terrace Place. She served as the welcoming Ambassador to all newcomers, making them feel right at home.

She is survived by her daughter, Claudia "Dee Dee" (Tom) Siegert of Howards Grove; four grandchildren, Andy (Nicky) Akright, Sara Akright, both of Sheboygan Falls, Amy Solano-Lara of Sheboygan and Mandy "Scooter" Schlosser of Milwaukee; 8 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Jayne Akright of Sheboygan Falls; a brother, Dougie (Pat) Wrensch of Sheboygan; two sisters, Mary Wuestenhagen of Sheboygan Falls, Kathy McDermott of Sheboygan and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was also preceded in death by a son, Tony Akright, a sister, Shirley Akright; three brothers, Jimmy Wrensch, Franny Wrensch and Buddy Wrensch.

A gathering and celebration of Helen's life will be held Saturday May 14, 2016 at Terrace Place , 1231 Eisner Avenue, Sheboygan from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m in room #227. There will be information and welcoming assistance in the lobby that day. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Helen's name.
