Harold Grunewald

Harold E. "Pinky" Grunewald, age 91, passed away Friday January 13, 2017 at Terrace Place in Sheboygan. He was born December 17, 1925 in Howards Grove, a son of the late Louis and Ella (Dickmann) Grunewald. He attended school in the Howards Grove area. Dorothy Meinnert and Harold Grunewald were united in marriage on November 29, 1947 at Saron U.C.C. in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. Dorothy preceded him in death on November 27, 2016.

During the early years of their marriage, Pinky and Dorothy farmed in the Plymouth area and the Town of Herman. He later was employed at Lakeland College in the maintenance department for over 17 years, retiring in 1997. Pinky was a dedicated member of the Howards Grove Lions Club, and took his job as Tail Twister very seriously, leveling fines against his fellow Lions, riding the Lions Bike in parades, and supporting the efforts of the Sheboygan County Lions Eye Bank. Pinky also enjoyed travelling with Dorothy as well.

Surviving Harold is a brother-in-law; Harold Meinnert of Kiel, and a sister-in-law, Alice (Roger) Thomas of Sheboygan Falls, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Pinky was also preceded in death by an infant sister, LaVerne, and one brother and sister-in-law, Nelson (Doris) Grunewald.

A Funeral Service will be held for Harold on Thursday January 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road, Howards Grove. Reverend Dr. Ernest Huntzinger will officiate. Interment will be in Immanuel Cemetery, Town of Herman. Friends may call at Westview on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
