Harlan Held

Harlan J. Held, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 29, 2017 at the Sheboygan Senior Community, after a several year battle with cancer.

He was born in Sheboygan on September 22, 1935, a son of the late Robert and Audrey (Wirth) Held. Harlan was a 1954 graduate of Kohler High School. His work career with the U.S. Postal service lasted over 36 years, retiring in 1990. He was a familiar face at the American Club where he worked part-time after retirement.

Harlan married the former Judy McCall Warbler on October 24, 1987. Harlan was a lifetime member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler where he had been an usher. Harlan loved flying planes, and had his private and commercial pilot's licenses. He was also a member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).

Surviving Harlan are his loving wife Judy and his children; Susan (Don) Schneider, Sandra (Greg) Bowe, Cheryl (Joe) Strojny, Steven (Roswitha) Held, Cathy (Terry) Hopkins, David Warbler and Julie (Mark) Pleune, fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Lowell (JoEllen) Held, two nephews, one niece, his former wife Marilyn Martin, and his loving dog and faithful companion, Molly. In addition to his parents, Harlan was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Held.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Harlan on Saturday May 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler. Reverend Richard Cerpich will be celebrant. Interment will follow at the Woodland Cemetery in Kohler. Friends may call at the CHURCH on Saturday from 9:00 a.m.until the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Harlan J. Held.
