Hans J. Palm, 87, of Sheboygan Falls was called to his home in heaven surrounded by his loving family on April 27, 2022, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
Hans was born on October 27, 1934, in Breslau, East Germany, to Alois and Betty (Sievi) Palm. Hans went to school in East Germany for 4 years until the start of WWII, and then he continued his education in West Germany. He attended agricultural college for 3 years and was an apprentice on a large farm in Germany.
In 1955 he went to Canada where he worked on a dairy farm. In 1956, Hans immigrated to the USA from Canada and started to work as a technician in the A.I. industry in Marshfield, WI. Later, he was transferred to the Sheboygan area. On April 19, 1958, Hans was united in marriage to his loving wife, Gladys Justinger, at Salem Plankroad UCC in Plymouth, WI. Together they raised four children, Dean, Heidi, Larry, and Annette. After 40 years in the A.I. industry, Hans retired in 1999.
Hans was a member of Salem UCC. He was also a member of the Sheboygan Falls Lions Club for 56 years and was awarded the Lions Club Melvin Jones Award. He was a Sheboygan County Fair Board member, a Sheboygan Falls FFA Alumni member, the LTC Advisory Board, and a Salem Green Board member. He was also a lifetime member of the Dairy Shrine Club.
Hans enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was well known for his love of people and his willingness to help others.
Hans is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Gladys; his four children, Dean (Ruth Ann), Heidi (Tom) Haack, Larry (special friend, Kathy), and Annette (Jim) Ostrom; his grandchildren, Brittney (Justin) Henschel, Brent Palm (fiancée, Myrya), Ashton Haack, Carlie, Mac, Shelby and Tristen Ostrom; and his brother Reinhard Palm. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law, Janice (Carl) Becker and Darla (Kenny) Price; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Hans is preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Betty Palm; his in-laws, Lawrence and Florence Justinger; Tante Lisl; his brother, Werner (Elfi); his sister, Ingetraud (Uli) Grosspitsch; sister-in-law Joyce; his dear friend Uwe; and foster parents Harvey and Luella Kaestner.
A Funeral Service will be held for Hans at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Salem UCC (217 Salem Dr, Plymouth, WI 53073) with Pastor James Hoppert officiating. A public visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Zimmer-Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (W2132 Garton Road, Sheboygan, WI 53083). Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Hans’ funeral service at the church.
Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler, WI.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Hans’ name.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kumar, Dr. Hosein and all the caring staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, along with Dr. Elliot at the Mayo Clinic. We are grateful for the loving care of all the healthcare providers who supported Hans.
