Gerald "Jerry" A. Zelle, 74, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Rocky Knoll Health Care in Plymouth. Jerry was born on July 29, 1942 in Sheboygan to Ottomar and Jeanette (Nelesen) Zelle. On October 17, 1985 he was united in marriage to Peggy Felten in Sheboygan. Jerry was the owner of Zelle Welding for 50 years, and started the Canvas business 29 years ago. He worked for Quasius Construction for 25 years.
Jerry was a member of the 99 Club for many years, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge receiving Elk of the Year from 2001 -2002, and Honorary Founder Elks National Foundation 2001. He was very active with the Boy Scouts for 50 years, receiving the George Meaney Founders Award, the Silver Beaver in 1984, District Award of Merit 1984, and the Awase Lodge in 1989. Jerry loved Blacksmithing and was a member of ABANA, he was a Civil War buff and enjoyed history.
Jerry is survived by his wife Peggy, three sons; Steven, Duane, and Jason Zelle, by two step-sons; Andrew and Robert Hilpertshauser, by his grandchildren; Jessica, Stuart, and Erin Zelle, and step-grandson Brody Hilpertshauser and great-granddaughter Mia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Judy Mueller.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Elks Lodge 1943 Erie Ave. Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with an Elks Memorial Service at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Elks Lodge in Jerry's name.
