Gerald E. Weinhold, 86, of rural Elkhart Lake, was taken to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 29, 2016.
On July 31, 1930 Gerald was born to Noah and Erna (Johnson) Weinhold in Plymouth. Gerald attended Plymouth schools and graduated from Plymouth High School, class of 1949. He proudly served in the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Division for 11 years. On October 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Leah R. Grosskreutz in Plymouth. Following their marriage, they lived in Plymouth before moving to rural Elkhart Lake, where they have lived for the past 54 years.
Gerald worked for the Kohler Company for 42 years assembling engines. He loved being outdoors gardening and fishing. He was especially fond of his John Deere Tractors. Time spent with his family and friends, enjoying the special Elk and Venison dinner prepared by Leah, playing Sheepshead and creating memories was important to him. Gerald also was a Volunteer Firefighter in Ada for 57 plus years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Leah, his two sons Gerald L. Weinhold of Plymouth and Steven Weinhold of Elkhart Lake, his sister, Ruth (Earl) Mehre of Sheboygan, by his sister-in-law, Marie (Herbert) DeRuyter of Howards Grove, special friends Emily Kinear and Holly Z, and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Marvin (Jeanette) Grosskreutz and Carl (Joy) Grosskreutz and Joe (Helene) Grosskreutz, his niece June Rautmann, and dear friend Mary Klein.
Private family services were held.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gerald's name to the Ada Volunteer Fire Department.
