Gerald Sauermilch

Gerald D. Sauermilch passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his home in Sheboygan surrounded by his family. He was 53 years old.
Jerry was born November 13, 1963 in Portland, OR. After high school, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1981 - 1987. He was a combat engineer, and was deployed to Germany twice. He owned his own construction company in Sheboygan, Lakeshore Home Improvement, and went on to do maintenance work for Burke Properties.
On May 21, 2014, he was united in marriage with Barbara Mand in Jekyll Island, GA, a beautiful beach location the couple love traveling to. Jerry enjoyed road trips and target shooting. He had the gift of gab, and enjoyed talking to friends, both old and new. Jerry was a selfless, kind hearted, honest, genuine man with a great sense of humor, who will be missed by many.
Jerry is survived by his wife Barb and two step-sons: Christopher Luchterhand of Milwaukee and Benjamin Metscher of Sheboygan. He is further survived by his parents: John and Susan Sauermilch of Plymouth, Cheryl and William Toppa of Lake City, FL, Royce and Sandy Westheimer of Vancouver, WA; brother Jason Sauermilch of Cascade, West Coast siblings: Teresa, Ron, Mechale, Brian and Sheri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Zimmer Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road in Sheboygan. Full military honors will take place after the service. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank the Aurora St. Luke's Neuro ICU caregivers, Dr. Kassam and his neurosurgical team, Dr. George Bobustuc, Dr. Tessa Damm, his speech therapist Abby Day, the Aurora Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic caregivers, Dr. Santhosh-Kumar and his nurse navigator Deb Gray and the Aurora Hospice care team, especially Heather, Kim and Joanne.
