Gary Schmidt

Gary F. Schmidt, age 66 of Howards Grove passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
Gary was born on May 27, 1950 in Sheboygan, WI to Frederick Herman Otto and Lorraine (Ver Strate) Schmidt. He graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1968 and graduated from Lakeland College in 1972. He was united in marriage to Susie M. McCarty on September 16, 1972 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan. Gary was a chemist who worked for Freeman Chemical in Port Washington (1972-2008), Aldrich Chemical (2009-2010), and Carstins Brands (August 2010-2011.) He retired in 2011 and loved every minute of his retirement, spending a lot of time in their newly remodeled cottage especially with his four girls (Susie, Becky, Gwen, and Lucky). He was active at Grace Lutheran Church, Haven, being a longtime member since 1972. He was also a member of the Old Farts Club at Wallo's. Gary enjoyed going to car shows with his baby 1995 Ford pick-up. He was often referred to as the Beagleman or Schmidtie.
Gary is survived by the love of his life, Susie Schmidt; speshel and loving daughter, Becky (Zach) Dienberg of Milwaukee; cherished granddaughter, Gwen Dienberg; siblings-in-law, Linda Nowak, Mark McCarty, and Nancy (Jeff) Laven; nieces and nephews, Paula (John) Lefeber, Amy Nowak, Windy (Joe) Van Bemmel, Grace McCarty, and Curt Laven; and great nieces and nephews, Colin, Jacob, Ann and Duke. He is further survived by his special friend/brother since 3yrs of age, Jake Fischer and longtime friends/family, the Jaecks Family; and too many other special friends to list, you know who you are.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother; his parents; and parents-in-law, Larry and June McCarty. Funeral Services for Gary will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 1:00p.m. at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (W2142 Garton Road, Sheboygan, WI 53083) with Pastor Bryan Osladil and Pastor Kenneth Serr co-officiating. Gary's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00a.m.-12:45p.m.
