Gail Drue Vollrath, 82, of Sheboygan, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. She was born June 27, 1937 in Sheboygan to Henry and Althea June (Littmann) Schmidt. Gail graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1955. On October 19, 1957 she was united in marriage to her High School sweetheart James Andrew Vollrath.
Gail worked at Imogene's Cleaning Center as their counselor. She was the first to be awarded the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year in 1955. She also was very active with her children and was a Den Mother to Pack 20 Cub Scout Troop at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Gail enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables and spending time with her Curves group. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed many years with her Wednesday Night League.
She is survived by her children; Michael (Sharon) Vollrath, Kevin Vollrath, Melody Gottowski (Robert Foster), and Darcy Vollrath (Mick Even), five grandchildren; Jason (Shana) Vollrath, Jesse (Jennifer Colmer) Vollrath, Jennifer Gottowski, Christopher Gottowski, and Maria (James Hunt) Giannopoulos, great-granddaughter Morgan Gottowski, and brother Robert (Doris) Schmidt. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Herman Oldenburg, and longtime companion Albert Sommerfeldt.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 6:00PM at Zimmer-Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Rd., Sheboygan, with officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 4:00 PM until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME.
