Frederick Yurk

Frederick "Fred" H. Yurk, 75, of Sheboygan, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc. Fred was born October 16, 1941, in Mishicot, to the late Christ and Ruth (Goetz) Yurk. On September 3, 1960, he married the former Patricia Neumann. She preceded him in death on June 16, 1981. On December 22, 1981, he married Margarita (Salazar) Chavez in Laredo, TX. Fred worked for Sheboygan Paper Box as maintenance supervisor and then for Paul Flagg as a Tannery supervisor. After retiring, he worked for Johnston's Bakery.
Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus, attaining the position of Past Grand Knight. Fred was very active in running the Knights of Columbus Bingo and other various activities. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed going to the casino.
In addition to his wife, Margarita, he is survived by his children, Christine (Richard) Flood, Sheboygan, Dennis (Shelley) Yurk, Manitowoc, Thom (Wendy) Yurk, Sheboygan, Rosa Chavez, San Antonio, TX, Diana (Sean) Chavez-McMillin, Appleton, Pam (Mark) Richter, Port Washington, Elena (Steven) Weinfurter, Sheboygan Falls and Amy (Dan) Kiedrowski, Sheboygan; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Chuck (Wendy) Yurk, Paul (Pat) Yurk and Dick (Jean) Yurk; his sisters, Mary (Marvin) Foster, Kaye (Bob) King and Barbara Holzer; his sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Jerry) Blanke, Phyllis Neumann, Debbie Yurk, Nancy Neumann, Lydia Tolle and Terri (Tom) Yoakum. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and late wife Patricia, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony, and granddaughter Sherri Flood, his brothers, Christian Yurk, John (Marilyn) Yurk, James Yurk and his sister, Judy Valenta and nephews, Travis Yurk, and Jayson Yurk his brothers-in-law, Larry Holzer, Jim Neumann and son-in-law Roy Kloppenburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Dominic Catholic Church, (2133 N 22nd St, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Philip Reifenberg as celebrant. Friends may call on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, at the church, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his grandsons-in-law Jason and Cody, the Sheboygan Falls First Responders, the Town of Sheboygan Falls Fire Department and the staff of the Emergency Room at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Fred's name.
