Frederick Hertel

Frederick "Fritz" N. Hertel, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, under the care of St. Nicholas Hospice. Fred was born in Spring Valley, the town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, on July 7, 1923 to Paul and Katherine (Schram) Hertel. He married Marian Pitsch at St. Fidelis in Spring Valley on November 13, 1948. They reached their 60th anniversary before Marian passed away on November 25, 2008. Fred served his country in the Merchant Marine from 1944 until 1947. He worked as a truck driver for Motor Transport Co. in Sheboygan for 32 years. He enjoyed working outside, taking pride in his garden and yard work.
Fred is survived by his six children, Fred (Patty), Jim (Anne), Kathy (Gary) Gebler, Bob (Pam), Paul (Janie) and Jack. Survivors also include 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his 10 brothers and sisters.
