Donald Mirsberger

October 5, 1931 — June 16, 2021

Sheboygan

Donald M. Mirsberger, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Pine Haven Christian Home.  He was born on October 5, 1931, in Sheboygan, the oldest of four sons born to Alfred and Viola (Roeder) Mirsberger.  Don was a lifetime resident of Sheboygan, attending Holy Name Grade School and graduating from North High School with the Class of 1950.  Don then went on to further his education by taking classes at both LTC and UWM.

On November 27, 1954, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Audrey Brocker at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. They shared 66 years together.  They enjoyed traveling extensively after his retirement. Audrey and Don were blessed with four sons: Joel (Jimi) of Lake Geneva, Thomas (Jeanne) of Oconomowoc, Jeffrey (Debbie) of Sheboygan and Gary (Donna) of Appleton.

Don was a proud member of Sheet Metal Local 18 for 70 years, serving on the Sheet Metal Workers Apprenticeship Committee.  He worked for the R.P.Honold  Company for 40 years where he managed the sheet metal department.  Don retired in April 1994 from Aldag Honold Company as a project manager.  His motto was “If a job is worth doing, then it is a job worth doing well.” He was also the first member of the City of Sheboygan Board of Appeals.

Having a very strong faith, desire and passion to serve, Don loved his God and his church.  He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, serving as an usher and volunteer with the Thursday church cleaning and grounds crew.  He was an active member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and served on the Store Committee. He also served on the Board of Directors for Calvary Cemetery.

Golfing, bowling, and playing cards with his senior friends were a few things he enjoyed.  When he was not partaking in a sport, you could find him cheering on the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers from his recliner.  Family was his pride and joy, he loved spending time with them creating lasting memories.

Don is further survived by his six grandchildren: Brooke (Nathan) Aslesen, Jordan (Jamie) Daul, Kara (Ellison) Kawakami, Evan Mirsberger, Abbey Mirsberger, and William Mirsberger, six great-grandchildren: Grant, Layne and Clark Aslesen, Hailey and JJ Daul, and Alana Kawakami, brothers; Ralph (Carol) Mirsberger of Brookfield and Rev. Richard Mirsberger of Milwaukee, sister-in-law Nancy Liefert, and by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Don was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Jean Mirsberger and brother Gerald Mirsberger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Ave. Sheboygan, with Rev. Mark Brandl officiating and Rev. Richard Mirsberger co-concelebrating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 11:30 AM until the time of mass at the CHURCH.

Don’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Prairie Crossing, Embrace, and Allay Hospice for their care, compassion and support during this time.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church or St. Vincent De Paul in Don’s name.
