Daniel Carl Bernhardt

Daniel Carl Bernhardt, age 71, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. He was born on October 23, 1952 in Sheboygan to the late Harold and Gladys (Dekarske) Bernhardt. Danny grew up in Sheboygan, and following his graduation from North High School, he continued to work and live in the Sheboygan area. On October 9, 1982, he married the love of his life, Karen Bubb, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.

Danny loved music, and was a talented guitar player from the time he was in high school and continued throughout his life. He shared his passion for music and talent with his community. He was an active member in many bands, including Triad, Broad Arrow, and Model A. His band even played at Summerfest one year. 

Danny was a devoted Packers, Badgers, and Brewers fan. He and Karen would take a bus to attend the Brewers games, and he would often attend the Packers games with his friends.

Above all, Danny was a caring and devoted husband, mentor, and friend. He was proud to help raise his nephew, John, and considered him like a son. He will be truly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. After working for most of his life in variable jobs in the trades, he found his true passion in helping students. Danny returned to school, and in 2012, earned his Associates Degree in Special Education Tech PC Support from Lakeshore Technical College. He worked in the Sheboygan Area School District, and again shared his talents with the local students and teachers, as well as his family and friends. The world could use more people like Danny.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of nearly 42 years, Karen, and his nephews John Bernhardt and T. Jay Bernhardt. He is further survived by his sister, Betty Lou Ninmer, brothers-in-law Michael (Patti) Bubb, Gary Gephart, and Larry (Colleen) Bubb, sisters-in-law Mary Jo (Ron) Ehlert, Kathy (Mike) Schommer, and Nancy Bernhardt, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his sister Joanne (Bob) Raatz, his brothers Harold, David (Betty), and Richard Bernhardt, sister-in-law Linda (nee Bubb) Gephart, and his nephew Matt Bubb.

The family would like to thank all of the emergency services in the Sheboygan area that assisted the family. Your care and compassion were greatly appreciated and will be remembered.

A memorial service honoring Danny’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1810 N. 13th St., Sheboygan, with Pastor Alan Kretschmar officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
