Cody J. Waterman

October 12, 1991 — February 19, 2025

Cody J. Waterman, age 33, of Elkhart Lake, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Born on October 12, 1991, in Sheboygan, he was the beloved son of Robert Waterman and Tammy Bassuener.

Cody was a devoted father, and his greatest joy in life was his daughter, Skyler, who brought light and laughter to his days. He is deeply missed by his parents, Robert and Tammy, and his sister, Brianna Waterman, who will forever hold dear his kindness, humor, and big heart. He was the treasured grandson of Roman and Bonnie Bassuener and Dennis and Carol Roethel, with whom he shared a strong and loving bond.

He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, Bob and Renee Maurer, Stan and Paula Bassuener, Chad and Amy Kistner, and Mark Waterman, as well as his cousins, Miranda Christel, Mariah Christel, Devin Bassuener, and Katelyn Bassuener. His presence will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Braylee Bevers, Luke Bevers, Weston Neils, Audrie Christel, and Landon and Hayzel Humphrey, who adored their time with him. Cody was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Waterman, Jr.

A graduate of Howards Grove High School, Cody found joy in hard work and being outdoors. He worked at Arnhoelter Farms and Spindler Farms before pursuing his passion for trucking. Earning his CDL license from Fox Valley Tech, Cody began a career doing what he loved most—driving. He worked for Waste Management and Edler Brothers Trucking, where he thrived behind the wheel, taking pride in his work and the friendships he made along the way. Cody was also a member of Immanuel UCC Church and briefly served with the Ada Fire Department, always ready to help where he was needed.

Cody had an undeniable love for diesel trucks, roaring engines, and anything with a loud exhaust. He found happiness in swapping engines, restoring tractors, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and, when the opportunity presented itself, doing an occasional burnout. Truck and tractor pulls were a staple of his summers, and he never missed a chance to be part of the excitement. He also took great pride in keeping his lawn pristine and his home in perfect order, a reflection of his meticulous nature. Cody was always the first to lend a hand to family and friends, with music playing in the background and a smile that could make any task more enjoyable. His heart was as big as his passion for the things he loved, and his generosity knew no bounds.
