Charles Paul Schwinn, 79, passed away on July 1, 2016, at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center, with his family at his side.
Charlie was born on January 7, 1937, son of Edward and Lauretta (Gries) Schwinn, in Edwards, WI. He attended St. Fidelis Catholic School and graduated from Howards Grove in 1955. Charlie worked in the pottery at Kohler Company for 37 years.
He married Marie Neuhaus Muetzelburg on November 27, 1969, and lived in Sheboygan Falls. He was a Big Brother for Tom. In 1976, they moved to Howards Grove where he joined Immanuel UCC serving terms on the consistory and as custodian. He was a member of the Lion's Club, served Meals on Wheels, played on the HG Senior Dartball team and donated 25 gallons of blood to Red Cross. In 2011, they moved to Sheboygan and joined Ebenezer UCC where he enjoyed Men's breakfasts.
Charlie truly enjoyed being with his family, doing yard work, planting garden, teasing the kids, meeting people, telling jokes, and sharing a "good to see you!". He enjoyed visiting with friends in Germany, Taiwan and Japan, family reunions, playing cards, breakfast with cousins, creating the Schwinn Family History book and compiling information for Edwards History.
Charlie is survived by his wife Marie, his children and grandchildren, Donna (Michael Roblee) and Katelyn, Grace, and Aaron of Sheboygan, Rev. Mark (Amy Schmalzbauer) Schwinn and Otto, Ira, and Rosemary of Black Creek, and Brian and Brian's dog Molly. He is further survived by brothers James (Julie Leonard) Schwinn of Sheboygan, and Leonard Schwinn of Howards Grove, sister Arlene Held of Kiel, sister-in-law Twilite Schroeder of Cedar Lake, brother-in-law Harold (Dorothy Bowe) Neuhaus of Chilton, sister-in-laws Irene Neuhaus of McFarland, Virginia Neuhaus of Ada, and the extended Schwinn and Neuhaus families.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Rosemary (Raymond) Bushman; brother, Gerald (Jola Kolb) Schwinn; sister-in-law Bergetta (Henning) Schwinn; and brother-in-law, Terrance Held. He is also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Albert and Alma (Schroer) Neuhaus, and in-laws Armin (Esther Toepel) Neuhaus, Esther Neuhaus, Florence (Kandler) Neuhaus, Helen (Dr. Rev. Reinhard Ulrich), Arno Neuhaus, Roland Neuhaus, and Elmer Neuhaus.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at Ebenezer UCC on Saemann Ave. on July 5, 2016 at 5 pm with Rev. Dr. Roger Mealiff officiating. Visitation will be from 2 until the time of the service. Private inurnment will be at Bethel UCC Cemetery.
