Charles “Chuck” H. Brukardt, 87, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and caregivers at his home on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Chuck was born on May 13, 1936, to Charles and Caroline (Luft) Brukardt in Menominee, Michigan. When Chuck was 15 years old his family moved to the south side of Sheboygan. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School with the class of 1954. On May 18, 1957, Chuck was married to Joyce Walczak in Sheboygan. After their wedding, they drove down to California on Route 66 for their honeymoon. Together, Joyce and Charles raised their only child, Randall, in Sheboygan.
After graduation from high school, he served in the National Guard as Sargent 1st and Acting Master Sargent. He was employed by Wisconsin Graphic Plate Corp. as a manager. After almost ten years he left Wisconsin Graphic Plate Corp. in 1963 and bought one third of Boneck Printing Inc. In 1978, Chuck overtook 100% of Boneck Printing and later retired in 2001.
Chuck enjoyed remodeling properties and building his own home. He planted trees to create a forest around his home. When he was not building or remodeling Chuck loved working in his gardens, reading, doing woodworking and photography. Chuck and Joyce travelled to every state in the U.S., England, Mexico, and on a Caribbean cruise. They spent a lot of time in their motor home up in Door County.
He is survived by his son Randall Brukardt; sister Shirley (Donald) Cripps and Gloria Walczak; nephews, David (Dawn)Walczak, Steven (Clarice) Walczak, and Michael Cripps; many great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and friends.
Chuck is preceded in death by his lovely wife Joyce Brukardt; his parents Charles and Caroline Brukardt; brother-in-law William Walczak; nephew Peter Cripps; and nieces, Debra Spangler (nee Walczak) and Andrea Zewadaka.
A memorial service will be held for Chuck on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 1:00p.m. Zimmer Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Rd, Sheboygan, WI 53083. The service will be livestreamed from Chuck's obituary page on www.zimmerfuneralhome.com. The family will greet guest from 11:00a.m. until the time of the service.
