Betty Kane

April 30, 1927 — November 29, 2023

Sheboygan

Betty Schilder Kane, age 96, of Sheboygan, passed away on November 29, 2023 at Sharon Richardson Hospice surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mazomanie to Urban and Ethel (Loofbourow) Stupfel.  She had four children: James, John, JoAnn and Robert. She was married to Carl Kane on April 22, 1978 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where they lived together for over 30 years. Betty loved her family and upon Carl’s passing moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty was actively involved in many sports throughout her life, especially tennis (both playing and watching the game), football and baseball.

She loved spending time with her friends, especially those at Mapledale whom she considered her family.  They spent many Fridays having dinner, going on trips, and enjoying each other’s company.

Highlights of her many travels included being in Germany during the birth of her granddaughter Wendy, and almost yearly visits to Anchorage, Alaska to see her sister Marion and husband Bernie. Betty even caught a 121-pound halibut while fishing in Homer! Her travels also included frequent trips to California to see her daughter, JoAnn.  Together they traveled to Florida, Las Vegas, and for her 90th birthday present, a trip to Hawaii.

She is survived by her two children, John Schilder and JoAnn Schilder Alfred, her grandchildren Allen (Brenda) Schilder and their children Hunter, Ava, and Drake, Dale (Jenny) Schilder and their son Deegan, Amy Schilder Goetsch and her son Kolton, and Wendy (Walid) Saade and their children Jana and Maya.  She is further survived by her sister Marion (Bernard) Simon, and daughter-in-law Rita Schilder and step-son John (Alice) Kane, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons James and Robert Schilder.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date.
