Bernard Hickey

Bernard L. "Bernie" Hickey, 79, of Town Sheboygan, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Bernie was born April 26, 1937, in Mosinee, to the late Leo and Stacia (Priest) Hickey. He attended grade school at St. Peter Claver and Sheboygan North High School. On July 20, 1957, he married the former Judith Berlin in Sheboygan. Next month would have been their 59th wedding anniversary. Bernie started his career as a paperboy before working at Poth Meat Market. After he married, he worked as a service station manager and ended his career as a salesman of office supplies and industrial safety equipment. While as a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, he was in the Men's Choir, a CCD instructor and served as a church commentator. He also served as a Junior Achievement Leader. Bernie served his country in the United States Army National Guard. His hobbies included spending time friends and family, enjoying the wilderness at the family lake house, fishing, boating, taking grandchildren on wildlife safaris in Nicolet National Forest, bowling, golfing, baseball and going to the casinos.
In addition to his wife, Judith, he is survived by two daughters, Mary J. (Gregory) Fischer and Barbara A. (Alan) Kabb; three grandchildren, Cassie A. Fischer, Jordan D. Kabb and Alexis A. Kabb; one great-granddaughter, Maddison G. Sanders; one brother, Robert W. Hickey; two sisters, Patty Walker and Maureen Sullivan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brothers, Joseph Hickey, one sister, Kathy Hickey-James and 3 brothers-in-law, Fred James, Kenneth Ribich and Terrance Sullivan.
Funeral services for Bernie will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Phil Reifenberg, of St. Dominic's Parish, officiating, with visitation to follow from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
