Beatrice M. (Buteyn) Vander Weele, age 88 of Sheboygan, who put all her hope and trust in the Lord, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 28th during her 88th birthday party surrounded by her loving family.
Beatrice was born in Sheboygan to the late Martin Jr. and Marie Buteyn on July 28th, 1930. She graduated from Central high school in 1948. On May 16th, 1952 she was united in marriage to Howard VanderWeele at First Christian Reformed Church (currently known as Christ Community Church). Howard preceded her in death on December 10,1996.
She worked at St. Andrew's Lutheran church as their church secretary for 22 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a lifelong, devoted member of First Christian Reformed Church, sang in the choir, played the organ, volunteered on numerous committees, and attended bible study. She still met with women from church for Tuesday morning bible study. Beatrice had a passion for God, her church, and her family.
Beatrice also enjoyed playing cards, Rummikub, and "making puzzle". Towards the end of her life, she was known as "the puzzle lady" at Morningside nursing home where she lived the last 3 years of her life.
Beatrice is survived by her sister, Carol Dekker, Doris (John) Jacobson, her sister-in-law Doris Buteyn, her sister-in-law Laverne Nyhuis, and her step brother Ron (Nancy) Westebake. Her children, Jean (Bill) Wilke, Joan (Dave) Broene, Jack (Deb) VanDerWeele, and Jay (Cindy) VanderWeele; her grandchildren Erin O'Brien, Laurel (Rob) Neary, Angela (Chris) Roosien, Al (Lindsey) Broene, Mandy (Tim) Porterfield, Corey (Mike) Foght, Hannah VanDerWeele (fiance Evan Mulder), Chloe VanDerWeele, Vanessa VanderWeele and Jared VanderWeele and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friend, Glenn Jasperse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard VanderWeele, her stepmother Edna Buteyn, her grandson Taylor VanderWeele, and her brother Art Buteyn.
A graveside service will be held for family and close friends on Wednesday, August 1st at 2pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at Christ Community Church (428 Geele Ave in Sheboygan) on August 10th at 5pm with light refreshments afterwards. Visitation will be from 3pm until time of service.
