Arno Koeser

February 16, 1930 — January 7, 2019

Arno W. Koeser, 88, Sheboygan Falls, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center. Arno was born February 16, 1930, in the Town of Meeme, to the late Carl and Elsie (Rades) Koeser. He attended schools in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties. Arno was employed by the Kohler Company prior to being drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He served in the Army from October 5, 1951 until October 4, 1953. He was stationed with the 278th Regimental Combat at Camp Drum, New York. The last year with Company G he helped train cadets at West Point, receiving a certificate of proficiency from 1802 Regiment. On May 19, 1956, he married the former Marlene V. Koppelmann. They had three children.
Arno was a bricklayer by trade and served on the apprenticeship committee for 23 years at LTC, also serving as president. He had over 50 years of continuous membership in the International Union of Bricklayers with numerous service and masonry awards.. He also was judge in Northeast Wisconsin Masonry Excellency Construction and was a member of Bricklayers Allied Craftsman since September of 1959. Arno also was an alternate delegate from Sheboygan County to the State of Wisconsin Conservation Congress and he held various officer positions for Bricklayer's Local #11 Wisconsin including president, vice president and recording secretary and various committees and judge in apprenticeship contests.
In addition to his wife, Marlene, he is survived by his three children, Karen K. (Michael) Meyer, Bryan A. (Kathy) Koeser and Rodney B. (Sandy) Koeser; five grandchildren, Karissa (Brandon) Davis, Kassandra Meyer (fiancé, John Rayho), Joshua Meyer, Ellen (Chad) Pennings and Alison Koeser; three great-grandchildren, Presley and Novella Davis and Bryna Pennings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar, four sisters, Alma Scheuller, Caroline (Hugo) Schreiber, Erna (Herman) Schultz and Helen Schelk Mattson.
Arno was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Howards Grove since 1950, where he served as elder, treasurer and various other committees such as the Building Committee. He also served as board member of Millersville Fire Department as president. He retired in 1991 when he had both hips replaced. He was a member of the Howards Grove Rod and Gun Club, belonged to the NRA and was an active hunter, fisherman and trapper.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, (441 Millersville Avenue, Howards Grove) with Rev. Aaron Mueller officiating. Friends may call on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, at the church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
